Car Insurance Companies - Saving Money

Another way to save thousands of dollars is shopping for car insurance companies.  Is this a pain and take time, yes without a doubt.  Personally I hate shopping for car insurance because it is boring, time consuming and lets face it, we can do a lot of other things with our time.  By shopping for car insurance, we can save thousands of dollars over the life of your car.

Don't assume you have the cheapest auto insurance, prove it to yourself.  Just because your friend found a great deal with one company doesn't mean that company will give you the best deal.  And yes you should do this every year because insurance companies are always changing their rates.  Car insurance is a very competitive business and they want to attract as many people as possible.

Each year statistics change, your age changes and more.  Maybe your situation last year looked bad to some insurance companies, but this year because of what happened, you might be in  a better insurance stance.  I know this seems goofy, but I own a 2003 GMC Sierra.  When I bought the truck, I called seven different car insurance companies.  I went with the second lowest price (only because the lowest price had bad customer service).  Anyways about two years later we were trying to save money, so I took the list out (My wife keeps everything, thanks god).  I stilled had the numbers and the quotes.  I wasn't going to call the two highest companies because again it is boring.  Well I ended up calling all the companies and the company that was the second highest in 2003 was now the lowest and not by $10 a year, but by $125 a year.  That's a lot of money.   Every year I call to get new quotes.

Most car insurance companies base the rates not only on your driving record, but also your age, your income, type of car and more.  As I said before circumstances change, insurance companies change their quotes etc.  It pays to shop around.  The bottom line is take your time and shop for good car insurance and save yourself thousands of dollars.
